As Covid-19 case counts dropped and States began opening up, we started to hear from our conference organizers about their plans for the fall in-person events. In many cases, these events are postponements from 2020 events or an expectation of a “return to normal” starting this fall.
We understand why conference organizers are eager to get back to in-person events, but we wanted to know what are YOUR plans for the fall? Are you excited to get back on the road and meeting with your peers at conferences? Or are you still hunkering down, riding out the potential fourth (or even fifth?) waves? Will you ever go to conferences again?
So we asked you directly! In a short two-question survey we asked you -- home care agency administrators, executives, and staff -- about your fall plans, and the results are in! The short answer?
It’s too soon.
Nearly 70% of you said you were not planning on traveling this fall, 68.4% to be exact. For those of you planning to travel, there were a number of you who indicated they were going to get out to visit clients, national Franchise meetings, or state-focused events. Though one comment caught our eye:
“Any and all that are available”
That one definitely made us LOL! We can definitely understand that cooped-up feeling!
We asked a follow-up question of those who said they were not planning to attend this fall to see if we could get a sense of your future plans:
The number that jumped off the page to us is that 38% of you are rethinking your event attendance strategy as a result of the Pandemic. That is not a small number and reflects how profound the Pandemic has impacted how we perceive the value of in-person events. It is clear that things are not just going to “go back to the way they were.”
We are evaluating our own event strategy for Q4 and for 2022 and will have more details soon. But let us know what you think in the comments. If you are re-thinking your own event attendance, does that mean you will go to fewer? Travel shorter distances? Not go at all? Until then, we can’t wait to see you on Zoom!
